Gum disease is silent and deadly
 

Gum disease can go on for years without pain and without detection unless specific examination procedures are performed.  90% of adults have some level of gum disease in the US.

Visual oral examination by itself (even by a dentist) will not reliably detect periodontal disease until it has reached an advanced stage.

Early detection and adequate diagnosis require measurement of pockets (the crevice between the tooth and gum) with a periodontal probe.  In our office we periodontal probe every tooth on six sights around each tooth. This is done for the whole mouth every 12 months. Often it is done more frequently if the patient is prone to periodontal disease. This probing combined with low radiation digital x-rays allows us to have early detection and continued monitoring of a patients gum and bone condition.  At our office effective prevention and treatment is available, but the damage caused as the disease progresses is irreversible.

Early detection and treatment is critical to prevent tooth loss and disfigurement.  Although the procedure is simple, painless and requires only a few minutes, millions of American adults have never had it done.

Some signs of gum disease are: bleeding gums, redness of gum tissue, swelling of gums around the teeth, breath odor, receding gums, and mobility of teeth.  At our office, we are very gum disease oriented. We inspect the gum and bone of your mouth at each examination with the doctors. We do periodontal probing and measure levels of bone for every tooth in your mouth.
